1) Vocabulary warm-up

Match the English phrase with the German meaning.

2) Affirmative sentences

How to build them:
I / You / We / They + verb → I play
He / She / It + verb + s / es → She plays
We use the Present Simple for routines and things we do often.

Exercise A: Choose the correct sentence

1. After school…

I plays in the garden after school. I play in the garden after school.

2. Mia…

Mia walks to school with her brother. Mia walk to school with her brother.

3. We…

We have lunch at school. We has lunch at school.

4. My dad…

My dad make dinner in the evening. My dad makes dinner in the evening.

Exercise B: Write the correct verb form

1. Ella ___ to school by bus. (go)

2. We ___ English on Tuesdays. (learn)

3. My mum ___ breakfast at seven. (make)

4. I ___ my teeth every morning. (brush)

3) Negative sentences

How to build them:
I / You / We / They + don’t + verb → I don’t play
He / She / It + doesn’t + verb → She doesn’t play
After doesn’t, the main verb goes back to the base form.

1. Which sentence is correct?

3. Which sentence is correct?

Leo doesn’t read comics at breakfast. Leo don’t read comics at breakfast.

4) Questions

How to build them:
Do + I / you / we / they + verb? → Do you like apples?
Does + he / she / it + verb? → Does she play chess?
We can also add question words: What time do you get up?

Exercise A: Choose Do or Does

1. ___ you have lunch at school?

Exercise B: Choose the best question

1. You want to ask about morning time.

What time do you get up? What time you do get up?

2. You want to ask about Mia and the piano.

3. You want to ask where they do homework.

Where do they do their homework? Where they do their homework?

5) Short answers

How to answer:
Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
Yes, he does. / No, she doesn’t.
We use do and does again in the short answer.

Yes, he does. Yes, he do.

Fact: The children walk to school every day.

Do the children walk to school every day?

No, they don’t. Yes, they do.

No, he doesn’t. No, he don’t.

Exercise B: Complete the short answer

1. Ava rides her bike to school.
Does Ava ride her bike to school? Yes, she ___.

2. The boys eat lunch at school.
Do the boys eat lunch at home? No, they ___.

3. The cat sleeps in the kitchen.
Does the cat sleep on the sofa? No, it ___.

6) Speaking time

7) Writing task

Write about your day. Try to write 4–6 sentences.

Try to include: one time phrase, one negative sentence, and one sentence about another person if you can.

Use one negative sentence with don’t or doesn’t.
